Tips for beautiful lips
NY Japion, weekly paper in New York, features owner Shizuka Bernstein in their March 17th, 2017 issue. In this article, Shizuka offers tips for beautiful lips.
Does skin freshener help to keep my lips hydrated?
Oil is the most effective ingredient to keep your lips hydrated. Skin freshener and moisturizer also has oil. However, it’s better to use lip balm which contains more oil to keep your lips hydrated. It’s the best to put your lip balm on frequently to prevent your lips from drying.
How can I have flawless lips?
- Prevent your skin from brown spots by using lip balm with UV protection. When your lips has sunburn, cool it down with cold towel. Then, hydrate your skin with something that contains Aloe Vera.
- Staying away from smoking is a big first step for a flawless skin. Although Vitamin C inhibits the production of brown spot’s cause melanin, Tar and Nicotine in Cigarette decreases the amount of Vitamin C absorbed in body. Also, when you purse your lips to smoke, you’ll see folds in the skin. Reputation of this motion can result in permanent creases and lines around your mouth.
What should I do when I have chapped lips?
Hydrate your lips with lip balm when your skin starts peeling and don’t peel it off. Key ingredient for hydration is Shea butter. Try to look for a lip balm that contains Shea butter. Fatty acid from Shea butter is similar to natural oil from human, which is why it blends into skin easily. It also helps to make your skin smoother.
When your lips are extremely dried, avoid products with disinfecting or freshness purpose ingredients for example Menthol, Camphor, and Eucalyptus. It’s not just harsh for your lips, but it could also cause inflammation.
Tips for soft and smooth lips
To keep your lips moisturized, it’s ideal to take about 6 1/2 US cups (1.6 litter) a day. Be careful not to take too much water. It could flush out Vitamin C and Calcium.
Humidifier and face masks also helps to keep your lips hydrated.
Lip care at home
– How to make lip mask with what you have at home
Mix honey and sugar 1 tea spoon each, then apply it gently on your lip with your finger with circular motion. Leave it on for few minutes, and remove it with warm water. Apply lip balm while the water is still remaining. Covering moisturized lips is the point to keep your lips hydrated.
Vitamin B1 and B2 in Honey recovers your skin from damaging and Sugar exfoliates dead skin. Once per 1-2 weeks is ideal.

7 ways to get rid of puffy under eyes
Clear eyes can give a healthy and youthful impression to others.
Here’s 7 ways to get rid of puffy under eyes!
1. Reduce Salt
Skin around your eyes is thin. Having too much salt can retain water, which can lead to swelling. If you see puffiness around your eyes in the morning, it could be from salty food from the day before.
Try to avoid over taking sodium. Salty foods aren’t limited to snacks. Many processed foods and energy drinks contain sodium. Herbs can be one of the replacement.
2. Change your Sleep habit
Gravity can cause puffiness under eyes. Try to sleep on your back .
3. Cut down Alcohol
Too much alcohol can dehydrate your skin. The more you drink, the more you get dehydrated. If you over drink, have some water before you go to bed and use a moisturizer.
4. Avoid UV rays
Too much sun can cause wrinkles. Try to use sun protection, sunglasses, and hat.
5. Stop Smoking
Smoking can add over 20 years to your appearance. Long-term smokers tend to develop deeply wrinkled skin. However, smokers who quit the habit show less facial wrinkles when they stop.
6. Cool it Down
Low temperature helps to calm puffiness. If you want to go natural, try cucumber or tea bags.
7. Use Eye Cream
Eye cream can help to give a better result on top of the tips above.
Shizuka New York’s Depuffer Eye Cream is a lightweight gel made with hyaluronic acid to significantly reduce under-eye puffiness.
The Depuffer Eye Creams works for all skin types, is 100% fragrance-free, and can be used both under and over makeup.

Is a lash perm better than using a lash curler? SELF Magazine tries Eyelash Perm
Surprisingly, the process didn’t hurt at all. I thought there would be more pulling on the lashes, but it was incredibly gentle from start to finish.
The curve was really natural looking, and there was not a single lash left behind. Every hair curved up evenly, which is nearly impossible to achieve with just mascara or even a eyelash curler.
My lashes were so curly that it gave the opposite of the lengthening effect I was going for. But if you use an eyelash curler religiously, I’d suggest trying a lash perm to shave time off your morning makeup routine.
SHIZUKA new york Day Spa’s Eyelash Perm is proven to create a lasting curl in the most gentle way possible. Especially if you have straight lashes, you’ll be surprised how much of a difference you can see.
We have 3 options for eyelash treatment. Eyelash Perm, Eyelash Extensions, and Eyelash Tinting. Each treatments are customizable to enhance your eye impression.
If you’re not sure which eyelash treatment is the best for you, we have recommendations per eyelash type: Eyelash Treatment FAQ
Still not sure? Please feel free to ask our experienced Eyelash Stylists!

Tips from beauty experts for fuller eye lashes
Eyes are one of the big part of your impression.
When we talk with someone, we tend to look at someone’s eyes. Shape of our eyes are all different, and it makes it unique about one. Since we’re looking at it for a long time, it tend to remain as one’s impression.
Here are tips from SHIZUKA new york’s beauty experts for fuller eye lashes!
Take off makeup before bed
Taking off your make up before bed is one of the most important thing to protect your eyes and to keep your eyelashes healthy. It could prevent eye irritation, eye infection, damaging eyelashes, and also bloodshot eyes. It’s better for your skin as well.
Keep your mascara clean
- Change your mascara every 3 to 5 months. Liquid or creamy makeup can harbor bacteria more easily, and mascara is considered as one. Replacing your mascara every 3 to 5 months can help to keep your mascara clean. If its’ dried or if it start to have a strange smell, stop using and get a new one.
- Don’t share. Sharing mascara with friends can transfer bacteria and cause eye infection.
- Don’t pump the mascara wand. It makes it dry out easily.
The most common injury related to cosmetics
Scratching eyes with a mascara wand is the most common injury related to cosmetics. It can lead to an eye infection, eyelash loss, or even blindness. Sometimes you might see someone applying mascara on a train or a car when it’s moving. Maybe she is busy, but this is dangerous.
Try to apply mascara in a relaxing environment in front of a mirror. This way it’s safe, and your eye lashes will look nicer, fuller, and will stay healthier this way.
Tips for Fuller Lashes
An eyelash extension is a synthetic eyelash that is attached to your natural lash using a specialized adhesive. Eyelash Extensions at SHIZUKA new york will add drama to lashes that are thin and light-colored without the need for mascara. Eyelash extensions also carry a slight curl which adds a natural-looking openness to your eyes.

Moisturize your eye lashes
Just like you condition your hair, it’s important to condition your eye lashes as well.
Eyelash Gel is perfect to condition your lashes. It’ll strengthen weak, too short, or too thin lashes.
This Eyelash Strengthening Gel is recommended after Eyelash Perm treatment.
Revitalash will help you achieve the beautiful look of longer, thicker, and fuller eyelashes. A very small amount of RevitaLash® is applied once a day for maximum results.

The No.1 cause of wrinkles and how to prevent
Do you know what is the No.1 cause of wrinkles?
Aging? Smoking? Sun exposure? or Not moisturizing?
According to WebMD, sun exposure is the No.1 cause!
Isn’t it surprising?
How to prevent:
Using Sun Protection is the easiest way to protect your skin from sun light and prevent wrinkles.
You might think it’s fine if you apply it when you go outside. However, your skin is getting sun light when you’re at home too. It’ll be the best to apply sun protection over SPF30 even when you are indoors. (Small care makes a big difference!)
Shizuka new york’s Sensitive Skin Sun Protection is very light and smooth.
This lightweight antioxidant moisturizer is a unique blend of botanicals that defend against overexposure.
This sun protection from Shizuka new york has a nice natural scent that makes it easy to use it daily.
Moisturizing is also important.
This moisturizing cream is non-greasy, goes on silky smooth, and absorbs quickly leaving the skin looking radiant, healthy, and hydrated. It also aids in brightening hyperpigmentation and age spots on the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid Gel is also good to keep your skin hydrated.
Shizuka New York’s Hyaluronic Acid Gel is a unique formula comprised of Myristoyl hexapeptide-8.
This fragment of human collagen works to improve and increase the rate of collagen production, thereby reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
The water-based, oil-free, fragrance-free and non-comedogenic gel may be used under makeup and is appropriate for all skin types.
One of the ingredient of this mist, Galactoarabinan is a natural polysaccharide extracted from previously harvested North America Larch Trees. It will help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, aids in moisturization and enhances skin radiance.
