Owner and master-aesthetician, Shizuka Bernstein was born in Tokyo. A former dance instructor, Shizuka discovered her passion for skin care after emigrating from Japan to the United States and marrying prominent Manhattan dermatologist and hair restoration specialist, Dr. Robert Bernstein.
After working as a medical aesthetician, Shizuka decided to open her own skin care practice which has since evolved into a full day spa.
Concurrent with Shizuka New York Day Spa’s expansion into its current location at 7 West 51st Street, Shizuka also developed her own line of skin care products based on powerful natural anti-aging ingredients and pure Mt. Fuji spring water.
Shizuka Bernstein is in high demand as a master facialist and skin care expert. Her artful technique has been singled out by many publications including New York Magazine which has featured her as a “Skin Care Guru.” She has also been seen on CNN, CNBC, Fox News, The Today Show, The Early Show, CBS’s The Doctors, and E!’s red carpet special leading up to the Primetime Emmy Awards as the creator of the Geisha Facial®, a skin care treatment that harnesses the ancient Japanese tradition of softening and brightening the skin with nightingale droppings.
