Bird Poop Facials on The Today Show
November 14, 2008 – Shizuka Bernstein of Shizuka New York Day Spa appeared on NBC’s The Today Show to surprise hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb with bird poop facials.
TV host and beauty expert Jill Martin interviewed Shizuka as she and her assistant applied the Geisha Facial® mask and massaged it into Kathie Lee’s and Hoda’s skin.
Kathie Lee and Hoda were definitely surprised and shocked to be receiving a facial treatment made out of bird droppings. Kathie Lee wondered if the bird poop facials were courtesy of “Tweety Bird.”
Owner Shizuka Bernstein explained that bird poop facials are an ancient tradition in Japan used by geishas for centuries to cleanse and brighten their skin. The Geisha Facial® (60 min, $180) is available exclusively at NYC’s Shizuka New York Day Spa, located just steps away from The Today Show studios, near Rockefeller Center.
