The Lumenis M22 for IPL Hair Removal Treatments

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Hair Removal can help you achieve permanent reduction of unwanted hair through a series of treatments that take as little as 5 minutes.

Our hair removal system works by emitting pulses of intense light into the hair follicles. The dark pigment in the hair follicles absorbs the intense pulsed light and converts it into heat which loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for new hair growth.

Intense Pulsed Light vs. Laser Hair Removal

Although IPL and Laser Hair Removal technically use different kinds of light to remove hair, many people use the terms interchangeably.

When will I see results from IPL Hair Removal?

You should see some results after your first Intense Pulsed Light hair removal treatment. However, because your hair grows in cycles, 3-6 Intense Pulsed Light sessions are usually required to achieve full results. The hair that does grow back after your Intense Pulsed Light treatment from our NYC medical spa should be thinner and lighter in color, and with multiple laser hair removal treatments, you should see a significant and permanent reduction in hair growth in the areas treated.

Will Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal Work for Me?

Intense Pulsed Light hair removal is not appropriate for all complexions and hair colors. It is most effective for those with fair-to-medium complexion and darker hair. IPL is less effective on white, blonde and other light-colored hair. For those with tan-to-dark complexion, Intense Pulsed Light hair removal is inadvisable because it can risk damaging the skin.

Plan your Intense Pulsed Light hair removal treatments around tropical vacations and other times of year when you will have to expose the treated areas to sunlight. You should avoid direct sunlight on the areas 4 weeks before and after treatment.
