Spooky Spa Specials for Halloween

Skin care shouldn’t be spooky this Halloween.  If cheap costume makeup is making your skin cry out for attention, fear not!  Shizuka has some great skin care tips and spa specials to take this Halloween from frightful to delightful.

Before You Haunt

When shopping for costume makeup, look for “non-comedogenic,” meaning that it won’t clog your pores. Cleanse your face before applying makeup to ensure that you are not trapping dirt and bacteria on the skin’s surface under your ghoulish look.

The After Party

Here’s a little trick from Shizuka to remove Halloween makeup after a night of partying:

1. When you get home, wet a clean face towel and microwave for about 1 – 2 minutes, until warm but not burning hot.
2. Cleanse your face with lukewarm water. A clay cleanser such as Shizuka’s all-natural Clay Cleanser usually does the trick well. Use gentle, circular strokes and rinse with lukewarm water.
3. Place the hot towel over your face (pictured at right) and relax for 1-3 minutes, about the length of your favorite relaxation tune. The steam will allow your pores to open and may also loosen some of the remaining makeup.
4. Gently cleanse your skin a second time and rinse with lukewarm water.
5. Pat your skin dry and apply your favorite toner, moisturizer, and eye cream.
6. Have a glass of water to rehydrate your body and sleep well.
